Facilities News

  • Daniel Soderlind has agreed to become the new Facilities Coordinator. We thank Daniel for his dedication. We also appreciate Dick & Donna, and Tom for coordinating and helping out with Church Facilities for many years. May God reward you more and more
  • Paving contract with Rainier Asphalt & Concrete was signed on Wednesday, June 23.  Work is anticipated to begin 3 weeks after the contract is signed.  The contract date is estimated to begin in late July or August.
  • A car ran through the fence along 24th Avenue and the area where the new trees were planted.  A contractor has said he will begin the fence repair on June 23rd.
  • The riding lawn mower was running sluggish. It was checked it out and the tires were aired up. Ken and Karen Knobbe have donated a push mower to the church. Thanks Ken and Karen
  • The mowing company, donating their services, is mowing every other week and working in the flower beds around the Church the off weeks. Parish volunteers are mowing the grounds on the off weeks.
  • Parishioners have been working in the flower beds around the Rectory.
  • The hedge on the north side of the Parish Hall and the hydrangeas along the fire lane/driveway have been trimmed back in preparation for the paving project.
  • A bid proposal has been received for potential repair of the parking area on the north side of the Church.
  • The Wi-Fi cable to the parish hall will be buried under the new asphalt.

If we exceed our goal, all payments above our share will come back to the parish in the form of a rebate to be used for paving and striping the parking lot (asphalt project)



Registration for CCD & First Communion

Open Now!!!

Registration for the 2021 - 2022 Faith Formation (CCD & First Communion) is opened now until September 1, 2021. All returning and new students must register.

Registration Form is available at the entrance of the Church or on the website. 


Completed forms may be dropped off by the parish office.

 Job Description #1  PK Aide                                                                                   Compensation: 

  • $16.80 per hour  Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week, 180 school days
  • September 1, 2021 – June 17, 2022


Job Description #2  PE Teacher                                                                            Compensation: 

  • Approx. $15.00 – $20.00 per hour, based on certification and experience
  • Three days per week, eight hours per day, 24 hours per week.
  • 7:30 am to 4:00pm                                
  • Preferred Minimum – Bachelor’s Degree
  • Preferred – Teacher Certification, however, this is not a requirement and individuals who  are in progress toward a Master’s in Education/Teaching or Teacher Certification classes are welcome to apply


Job Description #3  Head of Extended Care                                        


  • $14.38 / hour  6:15 am to 8:30 am & 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

Summit Christian Preschool


Summit Christian Preschool at St. John of the Woods is now accepting registration for the fall 2021-22 school year that will begin in September. Our newly redone classroom is bright and welcoming. Our faith based curriculum has proven successful for over 30 years. Children love our "learning through play" approach. We have openings for 3 year olds and 4 year olds.
